Underage models in Italy: From modelresource.com
In a move to clean up the reputation of its modelling industry, the Italian Ministy of the Interior has passed a law forbidding underage, foreign models from working in that country. The Associazione Servizi Moda (ASSEM), says the new rules forbid any foreign model under the age of 15. Models between 15 and 17-years-old may only work if accompanied by at least one parent, or a legal guardian appointed by the parents.
According to ASSEM -- a collection of several of the better-known agencies in Milan -- any underage model arriving alone will be denied a valid permesso di soggiorno (permit of stay), and may face legal consequences as an illegal immigrant.
ASSEM is made up of Beatrice, Elite, Eye for I, Flash, Joy, Names, Paolo Tomei, Riccardo Gay, and Why Not Model Management.
