Continued from page 1

Jed: It would be exciting for the viewers if you could relate some of your male models' success stories, what would be some of these fascinating stories?

Nathalie: Matthew Avedon is a great story. He is a typical New York street skateboarder who has become one of the biggest images in the business. It's wonderful to see someone as down to earth as Matt succeed to the degree in which he has. (Read our profile of Matthew Avedon here!)

Damien Vanzyl struggled for years prior to him signing with our company, but shortly after he did, Steven Meisel work with him for Italian Vogue, which pave the way for Damien to be the face of Calvin Klein for a few years as well as countless other designers.

(Damien Van Zyl who was represented by IceModels in CapeTown was initially with QModels in NYC. Stay tuned for ModelWatch exclusive profile of Damien!)

Says StyleGod on Nathalie Bernier:

"When Nathalie decided to leave, all of her boys followed and presto, Elite had a mens division overnight. With a nurturing nature and a mind for business Nathalie guides her boys into manhood picking up a contract or 5 along the way."

Nathalie Bernier was formerly with Next Models before she went to head the Men's Division at Elite.

THE STARS OF MALE MODELING Making waves!: Two of today's most celebrated and sought-after male models: American Boyd Holbrook and South African Shaun de Wet.
Boyd had quite an auspicious beginning of his career, landing the Christian Dior exclusive campaign. It was a thrill to see him start off with such a bang!
(Boyd Holbrook is ModelWatch's cover model for March!)

Shaun De Wet's perfect face was instantly noticed by several designers across the world.

Jed: Provide us with a sneak preview of who will become the Faces of the Future? Who are the agency's new discoveries that you are most excited about?

Nathalie: We have several models in development right now that I have applications for. There are already a few who are stepping into the spotlight.

These are: Adam K, Jesse Mason, Vaughn (he is also the cover boy of March Italian Vogue), Corey Harrill, and Lars Swensen. Lars has also landed the new exclusive contract for Christian Dior.

Jed: What are the qualities you look for in a model? If someone wishes to become a part of the agency's roster of models, what should he do?

Nathalie: Whenever I see a prospect model, a combination of qualities is a must. If you look at every successful model, you will see that they all meet a certain criteria; they of course, must have a special look, but we all know good looks are everywhere.

What is truly important is personality. In this business, clients may book a model for a job based upon his look, but to keep that client coming back they have to have a little "je ne sais quoi!"
