Fashion and cinema always blend beautifully together. Last Saturday, in Milan, fashion insiders and style connoisseurs experienced another show that celebrated men's fashion while music inspired by an upcoming Italian film played on the background - the Dolce and Gabbana show!
In its latest Fall/Winter collection, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said they were inspired by Baarìa – La porta del vento, an upcoming Sicilian-Italian comedy film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. It was the opening film of the 66th Venice International Film Festival in September 2009. It is also the Italian entry for the 2010 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Runway photos and the video clips featuring the Dolce and Gabbana Winter 2011 show, after the jump!
With the music of Italian film composer extraordinaire Ennio Morricone, models walked the runways while clips which recount the life of the Sicilian town of Baarìa continually play. If you failed to recall Morricone, he's the same composer who did the music for Sergio Leone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Brian dePalma's The Untouchables and Giuseppe Tornatore's Cinema Paradiso. Oh, yes, if you've watched Malena, he's the same guy who composed the haunting music too!
